Press Release
The MCSW Wants YOU to Vote This November
The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW) is an independent state agency whose mission is to provide a permanent, effective voice for women and girls across Massachusetts. To that end, we come together collectively to use our voice and encourage you to use your own.
We strongly urge all women to VOTE in the November 5th election.
Women’s rights are on the ballot this November. Whether casting your ballot for local, statewide, or federal offices, your vote matters and your voice has impact. As a bipartisan, bicameral organization, we believe in making space for all to be heard – but as an organization committed to advancing policy change, we collectively endorse legislation that has direct impacts on women, children, and families. The candidates for all offices have very different views of what those rights are. We encourage you to know what those positions are before you vote.
We unequivocally support legislation that gives women choice, autonomy, and advances rights and opportunities for all. Everything we do here at the MSCW, from data collection in our regional districts, to public hearings across the state is focused on listening to – and responding to – the needs of women. We seek to represent the incredible diversity of women across the Commonwealth in our advocacy. As a result, the MCSW will continue to advance our ambitious legislative agenda that crosses multiple sectors, issues, and priorities.
Together, our state and regional commissioners hail from all across the state, representing urban, rural, and agricultural communities. We recognize that as women, we do not lead single issue lives. Our overall economic, social, and cultural well being of the people in our Commonwealth depends on each and every one of you exercising your rights and living your values.
That’s why we humbly ask you to vote. Your input, your voices, and your experiences ultimately inform every day decisions made in the town or city we live in, the state we call home, and the country we all love.
So, make a plan for Election Day, November 5, 2024. Be sure you’re registered to vote or update your voter registration status. Do your research, bring a friend, decide how and when you will vote, put it on your calendar, give someone a ride. Do whatever it takes to be heard this November. Your power is your voice, your voice is your vote. Use it!
In Solidarity,
The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women
