Shaitia Spruell is the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, where she directs, plans, and coordinates the implementation of programs and activities developed by the MCSW Commissioners and supervises all employees and vendors.

Before joining the MCSW, Shaitia served as a State Commissioner appointed by the Massachusetts Caucus of Women Legislators and worked as a Program Manager for the Massachusetts State Treasurer’s Office of Economic Empowerment (OEE), primarily overseeing Women’s Economic Empowerment Programming and supporting virtual financial education programming. During her time at OEE she was proud to spearhead their Money Talk Tuesday Program, EqualPayMA Roundtable Series, and the Worth & Wealth (Valor y Dinero) Seminars. Shaitia also served as a Regional Commissioner on the Hampden County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls and is a member of the Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition, where she focuses on economic justice and education. 

Shaitia’s passions include advocating for the advancement and elevation of women and girls of the Commonwealth, promoting financial literacy, and increasing economic prosperity for women and girls of color. Earning her A.A. from Holyoke Community College and B.S. from Bay Path University, Shaitia is now enrolled at Fitchburg State University pursuing her MBA in Business Management. 

She is originally from Springfield but now lives in Lancaster, MA, with her partner and two boys. When she has time, she enjoys couponing and watching movies with her sons, Aaden and Lorenzo.
